Other than the attack of allergies I'm so glad Spring is finally here! I'm excited about more walks and other outdoor fun. I've been trying to think of some outdoor activities for my husband and I to do together. Exercise is always more fun with others! Here's a list of what I've come up with...
- Tennis
- Basketball
- Soccer
- Biking (although we only have one bike so we'll have to work on that)
- Volleyball
- Hiking
- Canoeing
- Paddle boating
Do you have any other ideas?
Frisbee Golf. Geocaching. While they are not exactly aerobic activities that you would count as your workout...they allow you to walk for a long time. (at least the geocaches in Wyoming do...they are usually out in the middle of some big field...haha).
ReplyDeleteYou guys could pick a 5k to run together and train together for it! :) Matt & I did that last summer. We had neither one ever run and we ended up doing a 10K together last May. You will amaze yourself at the progress you can see.
Glad you are feeling better! :)
Good ideas Shelly! Thanks! Definitely want to do a 5K at some point...but am totally intimidated by it right now. I guess that's what the training is for though!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking frisbee golf and a 5k as well. If you are not wanting to run a 5k yet then sign up to walk one. It was intimidating to me at first as well but when I finally went through with it I realized a few things.
ReplyDelete-People are really friendly and encouraging throughout. It is fun to be in an environment where people are excited to be getting the exercise they need
-Many people walk 5ks so even if you do not want to run it or are not ready to run the whole thing there are lots of people who just start out walking the race. You could do a mixture of both.
-After you do one, they are way less intimidating. Sure there are super-fast, super-fit people there who are trying to set new records but the real point is to go out and enjoy the exercise, set a personal goal to accomplish and enjoy yourself!
I am really proud of you Mer!
Have you checked out the Couch to 5K program. Google it. It starts out small and gives you a plan to follow. It totally works! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Meredith! I'm friends with your sister, Nathalie! This is so encouraging to see! What an accomplishment you've reached so far! I'm working on getting some much needed baby weight off. It's so tough! I've been swimming and doing yoga and it's been great! Although yoga isn't a calorie burning exercise, it's been relaxing my mind and helped me not be so paranoid about getting the weight off. Swimming is great once you get over the embarrassment of a swimsuit :) I hated the first time I put it on! Good luck!
